World Population Facts

A quick one for day 29 of #30daymapchallenge of 2024: population. Highlighting interesting population facts around the globe. I was working on another project and already had a map of the world with a population layer, so I thought I'd use it for this challenge.

I just got myself a subscription to Affinity and wanted to play around with it, so went a bit wild with blending modes and effects. I created the population map with QGIS and the Global Human Settlement Layer from Copernicus.

• Global Human Settlement Layer
• 90% of the world's population lives in the northern hemisphere
• Sao Paulo is with 12.4 million people the most populous city in the Americas
• Lagos is predicted to be the first city to reach a population of 100 million
